You can also choose to drive to the dam, where there is a parking area, and do the whole trail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is a circular trail in which we will discover the villages of the Guadalest valley and its natural environment from another perspective, admiring the spectacular mountains that surround us: Aitana, Xort\u00e0 and Serrella. We will pass through fields of traditional crops of almond, olive, carob and pine trees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As additional information we tell you that the reservoir collects mainly the waters of the Guadalest river and the ravines of the valley.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1128\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1128\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Ruta-por-Guadalest.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1128 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ruta-por-Guadalest-1024x576-1.jpg\" alt=\"Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1128\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guidepost 1: Church of San Vicente M\u00e1rtir: If we start the trail from <span style=\"color: #00414d;\"><strong><em>La Colina de Charly<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, we must reach the church of San Vicente M\u00e1rtir (18th century) (coordinates 38.676865, -0.210041).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the church of Benimantell go down Calle La Creueta to the end and continue straight on along the concrete path. Leave the school on your right. A few metres further on you will pass a fountain, the &#8220;Font de Baix&#8221;, where women used to go with pitchers to fetch water.<\/p>\n<p>Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We will always follow the main path, with the cemetery on the right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pay attention when the concrete road ends and do not go straight ahead but continue on the dirt road on the left with very sharp bends. In the background you can see &#8220;La Penya el Castellet&#8221;, a rocky outcrop with the ruins of a small Muslim castle on the top.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"display: inline !important;\" href=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HITO-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1125 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/HITO-01-1024x576-1.jpg\" alt=\"Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Guidepost 2 Reservoir<\/strong>: We will get to a wider and well maintained path that borders the reservoir. We will go to the right until we reach the dam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those who choose to drive to the dam will start the trail here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Guidepost 3 Dam<\/strong>: The dam began to be built in 1953 and took more than 19 years to be completed in 1971. The dam is 77 m. high and has a capacity of 16 hm3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We pass over the dam and continue along the asphalted country road on the left.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Guidepost 4 Barranco del Sitjar<\/strong>: At this point the paths fork. There is a signpost for the PRV-18 to the top of &#8220;Xort\u00e0&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continue to the left.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1127\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/HITO-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1126 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lacolinadecharly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/HITO-02-1024x576-1.jpg\" alt=\"Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Circular trail along the Guadalest reservoir<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Guidepost 5 Guadalest river bridge<\/strong>: After crossing it, we will go up a steep slope towards Beniard\u00e0, perhaps the point that requires the most effort of the whole trail, passing in front of a fountain. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guidepost 6 The outskirts of Beniard\u00e0: Before entering Beniard\u00e0 we turn off to the left onto a small asphalted road with a very steep descent until we reach almost the level of the reservoir.
